Using asdf

Using asdf

Asdf is an extensible version manager via plugin. Asdf evaluate manager many CLI to multiple languages. For example Java, Node, Go, Haskell and much more.

First of all, we will be installing asdf. The following steps were extracted from official documentation:

git clone https://github.com/asdf-vm/asdf.git ~/.asdf --branch v0.7.4
echo -e '\n. $HOME/.asdf/asdf.sh' >> ~/.bashrc
echo -e '\n. $HOME/.asdf/completions/asdf.bash' >> ~/.bashrc

Now, we can install a plugin for any language, for instance:

asdf plugin-add nodejs https://github.com/asdf-vm/asdf-nodejs.git
asdf install nodejs 12.11.1
